Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Ryan takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and strong through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact. On the mound, Ryan separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Ryan shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Breaking ball sits at 70mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who should find success going into his freshman season.

08/18/2019 - College PREP - St. Augustine , FL Ryan is a lean 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (81 mph velocity) across the diamond. Offensively, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage through a solid line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Ryan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
