08/29/2021 - All-In Membership - Brockton (Boston), MA Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.25 runner. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball through a quick release. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.05 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach, flashing gap to gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/27/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Brockton (Boston), MA Ryan is an athletic C who will graduate in 2023. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker. Pop times showed in the 2.16 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 3 years to further develop, Ryan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
