Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Ryan is an athletic built 2B/RHP prospect who is a hard worker and very coachable. In the field, Ryan has a good pre-pitch with smooth rhythm as he plays with active footwork taking the correct angles. He presents his glove and fields the ball athletically with a clean exchange. Ryan plays with momentum through the baseball throwing with a short arm action from a 3/4 slot. His throws are online with good accuracy. Offensively, Ryan has an open stance with a firm front side. He has a good load and his stride is on time with fluid rhythm. He effectively uses his lower half and maintains a centered balance. Ryan has an on-plane swing path. He has a line drive approach with the ability to spray the ball to all fields showing consistent contact. On the mound, Ryan has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 slot with a clean arm action. He extends through his release with the proper stride length. Ryan competes with good command and pitches downhill. He features a fastball and curveball. Overall, Ryan has good upside on both sides of the ball as he continues to polish his skills.

09/04/2016 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Ryan is a young, 2019 2B/RHP prospect who is currently ahead on the mound. His command on the mound is very good, with the ability to locate all his pitches to both sides of the plate. He features a low 70's fastball, a sharp curveball and deceptive changeup from a 3/4 arm slot. His eyes stay focused on his target and he keeps his shoulders square, to keep the ball down in the zone. At the dish, this prospect has an opposite field technique, keeping his hands inside the ball, looking to hit it where it's pitched. He gets to a firm front side with a strong lower half generating power and bat speed. At second, he shows good range into the hole and consistently makes plays with a solid glove. Playing through the ball will allow him to make strong, accurate throws to get runners out at first. Ryan is a player we look forward to continue watching progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
