12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ryan is a switch hitting 1st baseman with good skills. Defensively, Ryan has active feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He presents his glove well, squares-up well to the ball, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. At the plate, Ryan hits better from the left side. He has good bat speed, pop in his bat, and good balance. From the right side, Ryan takes an aggressive cut, he has good bat speed, and a line drive approach. Ryan can improve his skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
