Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Lakewood (Denver), CO Ryan is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Ryan makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Ryan field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a crouched stance and tracks the ball well. He works through a level swing and hits against a strong front side, producing solid contact. Ryan can create more consistent contact by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Ryan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Ryan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 65-68mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits at 62mph with late arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing can help Ryan build up his arm strength. Overall, Ryan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Baseball Factory Denver All-Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Ryan is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame athletic build with projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. At SS, he showed good rhythm to his actions and ability to cover ground. Creates good fielding angles and ability to play through the ball. Shows good glove action and fields the ball out front. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with momentum towards target and an arm velocity of 73mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. A right-handed pitcher who gets to a good balance point and works in-line to target. Showed a confident demeanor and competes on the mound. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good command of his off-speed pitches. FB sits 65-70mph with some arm side run. Mixed in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with tight spin and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed and looks like his FB. In 2 innings of work in live game action, he only surrendered 1 hit and punched out 2 batters. A switch hitter, he hits from an athletic and open stance from both sides of the plate. From the right side, he showed good barrel control and hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 74mph. From the left side, he tracks pitches well and gets good extension as he sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 76mph. More advanced hitter from the right side. Reached base 2 times in live game action, with a single and a base on balls. Good instincts and anticipation on the base paths. With continued growth and development, we can see him having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
