Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Ryan is a strong and athletic RHP/3B from Pennsylvania. At 3B, Ryan presents a low glove, has soft hands, and creates angles around the ball. Ryan will improve his overall game at 3B if he continues to work on staying down and coming through balls hit to his backhand and forehand sides. At the plate, Ryan has a closed stance, loads his hands into the drive position, backs the ball up, and shows power to the middle of the field. If he continues to attack the inside part of the ball, and keep his head down at contact he will increase his ability to stay through the ball longer. On the mound, Ryan stays balanced over the rubber, attacks the strike zone with his FB, and has good control from the stretch. If he continues to separate on time, stay directional to the plate, finishes out in front, and develop a secondary pitch, he will improve his overall ability on the mound. Ryan is a young prospect and continues to improve with experience.

09/25/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Ryan is a 2-way player at the 3B/RHP position. At 3B, he hustles hard to field GB's hit in the holes. He fields the ball, sets his feet and makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this RHP keeps his eyes locked in on his target. He delivers each pitch with a loose arm action as he pounds the zone with strikes. With the stick, Ryan finds the barrel with each swing. He drives pitches to all parts of the field as he extends through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Soft hands
2. Arm strength
3. Play through
Pitching
1. Finish strong
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Develop CH
Offense
1. Develop load
2. Bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
