05/04/2014 - BCC - Premium Video Program Ryan is lean 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable allowing his arm action to work free. Fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in his late movement, displaying range and shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Hands soft / clean but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive abilities. At the plate, he shows a balanced / athletic setup. Hands are loose as he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. Ryan has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
