01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ryan is a tall RHP prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Ryan starts with a small rock step and gathers over the rubber. He works with a clean arm and finishes square to the plate. Ryan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 66-71mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with good arm side run. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

02/20/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are now solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he works to square balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he has improved his hitting / power potential through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 80 mph. Fast ball shows solid arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/28/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Ryan is a long, athletic two-way player that continues to show improvement on the baseball field. At SS, Ryan plays athletically with efficient footwork and takes the proper angles to make all the plays. He has soft hands and clean exchange. Ryan has a loose arm action and gains momentum to his target upon release resulting in online throws. At the plate, Ryan as an open stance with an on time stride and load. He has smooth rhythm with balance as takes a direct bat path and obtains extension at contact. Ryan has strong bat speed and shows power to each gap. As a RHP, Ryan works with good pace and a balanced motion throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He maintains square direction throughout his delivery and has a controlled landing. Ryan's fastball has late life with run and he showed command of the pitch. He also features a 62-64 MPH 10-4 breaking slurve and a deceptive 62-65 MPH change up with arm side run. Ryan is an intriguing prospect that shows potential with upside in multiple areas of his game.

12/13/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Madison (NYC), NJ Ryan continues to work hard to develop his tools. At 2B, he has active footwork and takes good angles working around the GB from right to left. He funnels smoothly and has a quick arm - getting rid of the ball accurately across the diamond. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid get the in-between hop. With the bat, this RHH gets good hand separation ready to fire at pitches he likes. Barrel delivery is quick as he pulls the pitch on the inner 1/2 with pop. On the mound, Ryan works to a tall balance point and fires from a loose/free arm action. He has smooth separation, stays directional and repeats his delivery well. FB now tops out at 74 mph while showing some run. A more consistent release point on his SL - 'snapping it off' will help to improve effectiveness. Ryan has skills with still time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Ryan worked as a 2B/RHP at his most recent Baseball Factory outing. On the hill, he threw his FB with tail from 69-71, threw a 10/4 CB from 61-62, and flashed feel for a tailing/sinking CH from 64-65. He showed present arm whip, worked downhill with a free arm and repeated his actions with a good tempo. He was athletic in his presence and fielded his position well. In the infield, he had good footwork to work around the ball and threw with his legs under him. He had his hands in front to secure the ball and worked short hop drills to add sureness. In the box, his load was decent, and he delivered on a direct path to contact. He rotated his core, but has more in the tank and really needs to explode with the hands and hips for more bat speed. In all - Ryan is a rising freshman that has a chance to immediately help on the mound.

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Ryan continues to work hard on his game. Defensively, he shows active footwork and moves well laterally into position behind the GB. He has a clean exchange and gains ground toward 1B. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced setup with quiet actions. Swing path is level as he connects and drives the ball to all parts of the field. On the mound, FB now tops out at 71 mph as he repeats his delivery well. Changeup is best off-speed pitch ranging from 62-63 mph while showing late run. More glove-side lead and finishing with extension will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. Ryan (2019 grad) has skills with still a ton of time to develop his skills.

11/13/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Ryan is a talented two way player that showcased at 2B and on the mound. In the infield he is aggressive with his approach and fields out front of his body with sure hands. He works around the ball and has a quick exchange. He made accurate throws to his target and had good double play feeds and pivots. At the plate he has a smooth load, excellent balance, and a nice rhythm. He sees the ball deep and can spray to all fields. With his good barrel accuracy Ryan will continue to be a tough out at the plate. On the mound he has a nice and controlled delivery that allows him to repeat his mechanics. His arm action is clean and very projectable. He pounds the zone with his fastball and with some added secondary pitches he can be a nice option at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
