Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

02/23/2020 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Ryan is a tall, lean RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78 mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-65 mph with 10/4 shape gradual break. Changeup sits from 64-66 mph with tailing action. Off speed stuff show potential as being outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is excellent as he throws strikes with all his pitches and attacks the zone. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Ryan has an upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he improves his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
