Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ryan is a tall RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Ryan starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He is fluid separating his hands and works with a loose arm, staying inline towards the plate. Ryan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 87mph with good arm side run. Slider sits from 73-74mph with sharp 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 63-65mph with good sinking action. Ryan pounds the zone with all of his pitches, producing 10 K's during his outing. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his junior season.

04/28/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Ryan is a young, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Ryan has playable hands and feet, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He uses 2 hands, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency and average strength to his target. On the hill, Ryan has a controlled balance point, good direction toward home, and he lands in a sound position. Offensively, Ryan has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Field out front
2. Soften glove
3. Quicken feet
Pitching
1. Shoulders
2. Finish
3. Lengthen arm action
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
