04/25/2021 - All-In Membership - York, PA Ryan is a 2023 LHP/OF. Medium frame athletic build and room to develop. Primary left-handed pitcher, shows good rhythm to his delivery with good direction to towards the plate. Gathers over rubber with good direction. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and hides the ball well. FB that was up to 77mph with slight movement through the zone. Mixes in an 2/8 breaking ball with medium break and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed and good tailing action. Changeup was his best pitch. Secondary OF, efficient footwork who showed good instincts as he worked behind and through the baseball. Clean gather on the right side and then creates momentum into release. Accurate throws and good carry on the baseball all the way to target and an arm velocity of 79mph. Left-handed hitter, sets up even and open stance. Short/direct swing with good extension out front. Quickness to his hands and strength at impact that creates line drives to all fields. Exit velocity of 82mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having an opportunity to play at the next level.

12/29/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. His feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with tight spin and big downward break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

12/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ryan worked out at 1B and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Ryan has firm hands, efficient footwork to the ball, and he moves well around the bag. He centers the ball well, makes plays, and has a clean exchange with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Ryan competes in the zone, he has a good delivery, and drives toward home plate. He mixes his pitches well and shows good movement on his off-speed. Offensively, Ryan has an athletic set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and he has a direct barrel to the ball. He has quick hands, makes square contact, and uses his lower body. Overall skills can improve if Ryan can work on the following.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ryan is a young, solid, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Ryan has a good idea, he works hard, and works around the zone with his pitches. He separates on time, has good direction toward home, and finishes in a good position. At 1st base, Ryan makes the routine plays, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and has a short/quick release with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Ryan has an open stance, a proper load, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and hits hard to the pull side. Ryan can improve his game with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
