07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with tight spin and big downward break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
