01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Moseley continues to show as a solid prospect behind the dish. Defensively, he sits low and receives with soft hands. He makes strong/accurate throws down to second with solid pop times. Offensively, Ryan has a middle of the field approach, he is patient, and he creates extension thru contact. With his abilities, he will get looks to play at the next level behind the plate.

01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Moseley continues to show improvements in baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.10. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well as he comes out explosive, working in line to his target. He has a quick and clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest to date at 1.80 and an average of 1.98. He will control the running game with his feet and arm. Offensively, hitting grades and power numbers have also improved. Hands are short to it and long through it with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Swing path can get long with barrel getting out around the ball. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to transfer weight from the back to a firm front side. He has a promising future in the game.

12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Moseley displayed similar abilities as he we previously seen in Round Rock, TX. and worked out on the mound for the first time. Currently, he projects best behind plate where he has an upside and the makings to be a solid player. Offensively, hitting grades and power numbers have improved through a balanced, aggressive approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path as he shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He was 3 for 7 with 2 2B at the event. Behind the plate, Ryan shows strong hands with a plus arm that displays life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. He is athletic in his actions that show tools that will play at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-84 mph with running action and late depth. Moseley is a solid athlete with a positive attitude and high energy as he will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

11/07/2010 - College PREP - Austin, TX Ryan is a tall, thin, athletic, 2-way player that Catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Ryan has quick feet, sure hands, and he presents his glove well. He has a quiet approach, works around the ball well, and has a good idea when blocking. Ryan gets rid of the ball quickly and throws with a short arm action, accurately with life to his target. Catching abilities can further improve if Ryan can work to gain ground better, widen his base when blocking, and center the ball better on his chest. In the OF Ryan has soft / sure hands, and fluid / active feet. He plays in nice rhythm, has clean actions, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. Ryan squares his body well to his target and throws with accuracy and excellent life and carry to his target. At the plate, Ryan has a tall approach, proper load, and a short stride. He has good balance, good bat speed, and his lower 1/2 works well. Ryan makes square contact with the ball, and he has a level / line drive approach. Hitting can improve if Ryan can narrow his base some and let the ball travel deeper into the hitting zone.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
