12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Ryan is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. Behind the plate, Ryan presents a good target to the pitcher and tracks the ball into his glove. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them on the 2B bag. He works to block balls in the dirt and covers up well. Being more efficient moving to block can help Ryan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing and rotates his core well, leading to solid contact to all fields. Ryan can improve as a hitter by working on his contact points. With six more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/22/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Lynnwood (Seattle), WA Ryan is a young, 2-way player with a strong lower body. Behind the plate, Ryan has quick feet, he sits in athletically, and he moves with agility. He has firm hands, a quick/clean exchange, and a quick release with a short arm action to 2nd base. At 3rd, Ryan has fluid footwork to the ball, he fields in a low position, and his exchange is clean with momentum and carry across the diamond. At the plate, Ryan has a tall stance, an on-time stride toward the pitcher, and he uses his lower body. He makes square contact and shows the ability to spray to all fields. Solid overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
