01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is an athletic OF/2B prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Ryan takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He rotates his core and makes consistent contact, driving the ball to all fields. With three more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/28/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Ryan is an athletic and talented 2022 utility prospect. At SS, Ryan fields the ball in an athletic position, has range on both sides of the glove, and presents a low/early glove. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing across the diamond. In the OF, Ryan is on time with his prep step, fields the ball in an athletic position, and has efficient routes to the ball. He works behind the ball and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing to the plate. At the plate, Ryan starts in a tall stance, gets his front foot down on time, and has a smooth load. He creates backside rotation with his lower half and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. Ryan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Ryan is a coachable OF/SS who continued to improve during his time at the Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Ryan shows quick footwork and is very agile ranging to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. Ryan can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load well and leads with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact. Ryan can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With four more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/29/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Corpus Christi, TX Ryan is a solid, 2-way player as a SS/OF. Defensively at SS, he takes quick routes/angles and works into a square fielding position on GB's. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he moves well to his glove side and gets behind on fly balls. He plays through the GB and makes on-line throws to his target. As a hitter, Ryan has fluid rhythm to load. He swings on a direct path through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Develop softer hands
2. Quicker exchange to throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Outfield
1. Prep step
2. Quicker footwork
3. Play through more
Offense
1. Let the ball travel
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Improve bat speed/hands

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
