01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Strickland continues to show solid/steady play in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, he moves well laterally, displaying range and shows soft/sure hands. Feet/hands work well through the fielding actions and he displays smooth/fluid actions. Athletic abilities are shown off in his feeds/turn of the double play and has big play potential in the MIF. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields.

08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Strickland showed well during his time in Pirate City. Defensively at SS, this athlete works fluidly into position and fields the ball cleanly. Ball is quick/clean from glove to hand as he gets rid of it across the diamond. With the bat, this RHH shows a closed setup with rhythm. His hands are quick as he whips the barrel through the zone. He doesn't get beat often and is a tough out. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with 2 BB as he displays a solid eye at the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays hard. Ryan has tools that will play at the next level.

06/30/2014 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Ryan is an athletic MIF who can swing it. Offensively, he shows a relaxed approach with good rhythm. He works back into a strong loaded position and swings on a level path, connecting and driving the ball. He creates extension through the zone and hits the ball on a line. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Defensively, he shows good prep and works light on his feet. He fields the ball cleanly and turns the DP with quick hands. A skilled all-around player - Ryan's tools will translate well at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
