01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Ryan is a solid 3B/RHP with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2014 and shows potential at both positions. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.42 60 time. Feet are quick / active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the plays. He moves well laterally, flashing range and plays through balls, presenting hands out front. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic / squared setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, has strength, and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 6. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with sharp / late break. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and develops another off speed pitch. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Ryan has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.
