06/08/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Ryan is an athletic switch hitting MIF that shows as a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate, hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range (6.81 60 time). He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are at a pro level as he shows big play potential. Ryan has a ton of upside and possesses the skill set that will play at a very high level and a solid draft pick.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament When Ryan steps onto the diamond, you want to be sure that you're paying attention. The switch hitting MIF talent can make things happen in a multitude of ways. Hands are quick with a smooth stroke, crushing the ball all over the park. The ball absolutely explodes off of his barrel - posting an impressive 96 mph exit velocity. At SS, he works fluidly right to left and fields with soft hands. He can pick it, get it out of his mitt and across the diamond quickly, making the tough backhand play deep in the hole look easy. This Texas A&M commit will turn some heads in this only his junior season.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan Targac is a SS/RHP that competed with strength on all sides of the ball at the Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. Offensively, the switch hitter showed quiet actions with good balance to hit from both sides with a level/line-drive barrel path. He was loose with his actions, worked his backside through and accelerated the barrel with hand/hip coordination. He can hit from both sides and will be able to handle increased velo with continued reps. At short, he showed good lateral movement, taking good angles to the baseball and fielding with sure hands. He had a quick exchange to throw and showed present carry to his targets. On the hill, he threw a FB with late run, spun a 12/6 CB from 62/64 with gradual action and showed a sharp breaking SL from 67-68. He was loose and free with his arm action and had a clean delivery, enabling him to pound the zone with great command. Overall - Ryan is a very intriguing prospect that has plus projection everywhere on the diamond.

05/31/2015 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Ryan is a very talented (2020 grad) 2-way player as a SS/RHP. With the bat, this switch hitter shows a balanced approach with patience. He gets good separation working back into a strong loaded position. Swing is quick to and through the zone as he connects with pop. Defensively at SS, Ryan shows active prep footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He has plus range, funnels smoothly and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, SPL) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He mixes well and throws all of his pitches for strikes. He maintains fluid tempo and repeats well. FB ranges from 73-75 mph while breaking ball has 11/5 shape. Splitter shows sink as he throws it with FB arm speed. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. More lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. DP feeds
2. Footwork to backhand
Pitching
1. Stride / Direction
2. Separation

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
