08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Ryan is a big, strong 3B prospect who has feel for the game and is a great teammate. He has shown incredible improvement, especially in the field with lots of range and a strong arm to make long throws. He has quick feet and lateral agility to get to hard hit balls down the line and fields with soft hands. He is athletic and gets rid of the ball quickly from multiple angles to make lots of impressive plays. At the dish, he is fluid and smooth to load and launch, showing fast bat speed through the zone. He generates pop and makes consistent, square contact while crushing the ball to the pull side. Eliminating a slight hitch in his load will shore up timing and make him a complete hitter. Ryan is an impressive prospect with tons of potential on the field.

01/07/2018 - College PREP - Bradenton (Tampa Bay), FL Ryan is a solid 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2020. At the plate is where he shows best, through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Ryan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
