11/07/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Ryan is already a polished, proven player at a young age. He is a legitimate 2-way prospect who plays SS and is a RHP. At UA Futures Texas he worked out and played exclusively in the infield. He was impressive throughout, once again showing his quick, easy stroke that leads to hard contact and big pull power. He lets the ball travel and then explodes through the ball in an approach usually seen from higher level, more experienced players. He is both a confident hitter and infielder. In the field Ryan has efficient feet and soft sure hands with the instincts and anticipation to make plays to either side. He has plenty of arm strength, though he prefers to go sidearm across the diamond on routine plays resulting in tail to his throws. Ryan is a top prospect in the 2017 class who warrants following. He is a dependable defender who will hit in the middle of the order - an exciting combination.

04/12/2015 - National Tryout - Plano (DFW), TX Ryan continues to shine on the diamond. With the bat, this strong righty shows an athletic setup with good balance. Fluid rhythm allows him to work back into a strong loaded position as he's ready to crush a pitch in the zone. He takes an aggressive hack, whips the barrel through the zone and creates hard/consistent contact. He will be a run producer with his ability to drive the balls to the deep parts of the park. At SS, Ryan shows plus lateral range. He works fluidly around the GB, right to left and plays through it toward his target. Ryan is an exciting prospect who has a very bright future in the game.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Vilade showed at SS and on the mound for the first time at the event. Currently, he projects best at SS but has an upside on the mound. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.26. In the MIF, he moves well laterally, displaying range and shows soft / sure hands. Feet / hands work well through the fielding actions, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Athletic abilities are shown off in his feeds / turn of the double play and has big play potential in the MIF. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. He will hit and hit with pop at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with sinking action. Off speed pitches show a lot of potential as being quality out pitches at the next level. Control is outstanding as he pounds the zone with a lot of strikes. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Ryan has a promising future on the diamond, possibly as a two-way guy.

11/02/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series Texas Ryan is an extremely talented prospect whose tools and ability are far beyond his age as a 2017 grad. At the plate he is a natural, confident hitter with a relaxed, rhythmic approach. He has a level path and sprays line drives to all fields while flashing occasional power. In the infield Ryan is a fluid defender with good hands and a clean, quick exchange. His feet work well and his instincts are evident in both his actions and the way he reacts to balls off the bat. Overall, this is a premium 2017 prospect to watch closely over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
