Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Ryan is an athletic RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Ryan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Ryan shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with arm side run. Curveball sits from 56-60mph with 11-5 break. Slider sits from 58-63mph with good movement. Changeup sits from 60-63mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Throwing with more intent can help Ryan improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Ryan can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Ryan is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
