09/16/2015 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Ryan is a versatile 2-way player who has a strong/athletic build (6'0"/195). He is a gamer who leads by example. He has worked hard and made several improvements since we last saw him. Behind the dish, he sits in with flexion & quiet/athletic actions. Throws down to 2B are on the bag with pop times now at an impressive 1.87. He works hard laterally to body up pitches off of his chest. Offensively, Ryan has rhythm to load and gets good hand separation. He whips the barrel with speed to and through the zone, connecting and spraying it to all parts of the field. He will fit nicely in the middle of the batting order with his ability to center and drive the ball. Weller has the tools that will make an impact on the diamond. He has a bright future ahead of him.

04/26/2015 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Ryan is a solid, athletic C/OF that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best behind the plate for the next level. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.32 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup and aggressive approach. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He has big time strength and leverage with plus barrel accuracy as the baseball exploding off his bat when centered, displaying pop to all fields. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.02-2.12 with accuracy and carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down ball and utilizes two hands well. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Ryan has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities behind and at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
