01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ryan is a 2017 OF with a projectable frame (6'1", 180 lbs). In the field, Ryan gives great effort and is aggressive attacking ground balls. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He gets into his load and leads with his lower half well. He shows a level swing which leads to square contact to all fields. Overall, Ryan is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/26/2016 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Ryan really improved his hitting / power abilities at the event. Hitting abilities are well above average with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 2B. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.09. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Once on base, he utilizes his quick feet well as he will steal a base. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

06/27/2016 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Ryan has improved his baseball abilities and shows a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved, showing smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles. He works to get behind the ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his quickness and reads balls well off the bat, displaying range. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Ryan has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Wiese is an athletic 2017 OF that competed well at the Recruiting Classic. Defensively, Ryan reads the ball well, displays efficient footwork and good body control while taking good angles in the OF. Wiese shows a quick release on the catch-throw transfer and will benefit from developing a more over-the-top arm angle for increased carry and velocity. Offensively, Ryan showed some rhythm to hit and stayed loose throughout the stroke and will benefit from developing a timing mechanism and activating the hands in the launch to create separation. On the base paths Wiese gets quality reads and is aggressive as a runner. Wiese's desire to make adjustments and improve will allow him to get the most out of his ability in the near future.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Ryan is a skilled R/R OF who has a projectable frame (6'0'/185). Offensively, this righty stands in well with an athletic/balanced setup and solid base. He whips the barrel on a direct path to and through the zone, connecting with pop. Even more power potential is there if he can work to engage more of his lower 1/2. In the OF, Ryan takes a quick first step moving well laterally to track down fly-balls. He works into position behind the ball, gathers well and gains ground through it toward his target. A proven hard worker - Ryan will make things happen in this his junior year.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Ryan is a solid OF that has a lot of potential. In the OF he shows good range, a quick first step, and he gets behind the ball well. He takes the proper routes / angles to the ball and he has good body control. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws with good carry. At the plate he has a closed stance, good balance, and he uses his lower half well. He makes consistent contact and he works the count in his favor with a nice disciplined approach. With Ryan's athleticism and attitude, he should be a player to watch as he gets older.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
