Official Scouting Report

  • C/2BPosition Projection

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Ryan showed well at both positions during his last workout with The Factory. He is a projectable C/2B with a strong/solid frame. Behind the plate, Ryan tracks the ball well, footwork is efficient, and he presents his glove well. He looks the ball in, takes good angles to block, and throws with momentum and consistency to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.65 seconds. At 2nd base, Ryan has good pre-pitch actions, he fields out in front, and has a clean exchange with consistency across the diamond. At the plate, Ryan is slightly better from the right side. He has an aggressive swing, good feel for the barrel, and he works the middle of the field. From the left side, Ryan has a square set-up, good hand separation, and he makes square contact. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Ryan is a talented 2B/C prospect who plays the game with great energy. Offensively, Ryan is a switch-hitter who shows slightly better from the right side of the plate. He has a tall, square setup with his weight in the back of his stance. Ryan has a load with a long stride. He shows fast bat speed with an upward swing path. Ryan gets good extension at contact producing hard contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to show power. In the field, Ryan plays with effective, active footwork to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Ryan has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot showing accurate, online throws across the diamond. Overall, Ryan is a great teammate who has skill on both sides of the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
