01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Wimbush stands a long and slender 6-foot-2 and 150 pounds, and ran his fastball up to 89 mph -- a jump of nine mph since we last saw him in June 2015. He pitches from a over top slot, and gets very good plane on his fastball. His breaking ball comes out from the same slot, and has sharp downward action in the low 70s. He worked with good tempo, and had good rhythm to his delivery to permit good hip and chest rotation to get his arm out front. He threw strikes with his fastball and breaking ball, held runners well and fielded his position well. Though his primary value is on the mound, he offers some two-way ability as well. He ran 6.9 in the 60 yard dash, and showed solid actions and arm strength in the outfield. His right-handed stroke was level through the zone and he used his lower half well. He made line drive contact to the big part of the ballpark in BP, and carried that same approach over to game at bats. Overall, an athletic and talented RHP with rising stock and improving stuff.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is a talented RHP that also showcased in the OF. On the mound Ryan has a repeatable delivery and works downhill creating good tilt. He has a clean arm action and gets good extension on all his pitches. He throws a fastball with excellent arm side run, a curve with an 11/5 shape with late break, and a change that has late sink in the zone. In the OF he has a quick first step, gets behind the ball well, and takes the proper routes to the ball. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws with good carry. Offensively, Ryan has an athletic stance, good load, and strong balance. He has good barrel accuracy and makes consistent contact. His approach is advanced for his age and he showed that he can spray the ball to all fields.

09/19/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Fall Classic Underclass Participant Has a long, lean frame at 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds. Though he appears to have some two-way potential, he likely has a higher ceiling on the mound. Once he turns his palm over and begins his arm forward to the plate, it works with looseness and some speed. His delivery is under control and without notable flaws, allowing him to throw strikes with his 78-80 fastball and upper 60s breaking ball. His fastball has some cut action, and his breaking ball shows signs of defined shape.

06/06/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Southeast Championships 16U Participant Very mature hitter for his age. Shows good patience at the plate, doesn't swing at bad pitches and waits for the best pitch he can hit. Good pop to pull side. Line drive hitter. Makes solid contact consistently. Good runner.

05/23/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Memorial Day Classic 16U Participant Showed confidence and good mound presence. FB 77-80 with some down angle from over top slot. Curveball 63-64 with tight spin and the makings of near 12-6 action. Strike thrower with FB and CB, saw CH between innings but used little if at all during game. Balanced delivery, arm worked well from the glove, and he got some extension out front.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
