12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Ryan takes a good first step and shows efficient footwork. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Ryan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone and flashes gap to gap pop. Ryan can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing path. On the mound, Ryan starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Ryan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 46-49mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 50-54mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Ryan improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
