06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Ryder is a solid 3B prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Ryder shows efficient footwork and makes the routine play. He throws from a high 3/4 slot and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Ryder can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Ryder can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Ryder has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/15/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Omaha, NE Ryder is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and OF. In the INF, Ryder has playable hands and feet, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He keeps it in front, has a clean exchange, and throws from a 3/4 arm slot to his target. In the OF, Ryder is light on his feet, he has good pre-pitch actions, and throws with a quick arm action to his target. At the plate, Ryder has an open stance, he swings aggressively, and has pop to the pull side. He has fast bat speed, a short swing, and makes consistent contact. Ryder can improve skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Play lower
2. Quicken feet
3. Field out in front
Outfield
1. Catch with 2 hands
2. Exchange
3. Quicken release

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
