07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Ryland is a coachable 2022 SS/RHP prospect who showed his skills at the Southwest Championship. At SS, he starts in a relaxed posture, with smooth actions, and gets good reads off the bat. Good crossover steps enables to create good fielding angles and creates good rhythm through the baseball. He fields out front, with a 2-hand transfer, and throws multiple arm slots. Good carry and accurate throws across diamond with an arm velocity up to 89mph. At the plate, he hits from a relaxed and even stance with loose hands. Controlled load and a flat barrel path as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph during BP. During the games, he reached base 2 times with a single and base on balls while showing a good 2 strike approach. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch and works fast. He is a 2-pitch pitcher who tries to work at the bottom of the zone. He showed a clean arm action and good lower half rotation towards his target. Works off of a FB that sat 78-80mph with some sink and an 11/5 shaped slider. In 1 inning of work, he induced soft contact and threw 56% of his pitches for strikes. Overall, Ryland is a solid 2-way prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

04/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Las Vegas, NV Ryland is a SS in the 2022 class. Shows off a long (6’2) and athletic frame. In the field, he uses active feet to show off his range. Gets very good reads off of the bat. Fields from a low fielding position. Good hands that work out front. Very clean actions fielding as well as quick transfers. Ability to throw from all arm slots. At the plate, he hits from an athletic stance. Works gap to gap and flashes some pull side power. Very smooth swing with a direct path towards the baseball. Ryland is a very good prospect and will be fun to watch in the coming years as he continues to develop his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
