07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Ryland is a coachable 2022 SS/RHP prospect who showed his skills at the Southwest Championship. At SS, he starts in a relaxed posture, with smooth actions, and gets good reads off the bat. Good crossover steps enables to create good fielding angles and creates good rhythm through the baseball. He fields out front, with a 2-hand transfer, and throws multiple arm slots. Good carry and accurate throws across diamond with an arm velocity up to 89mph. At the plate, he hits from a relaxed and even stance with loose hands. Controlled load and a flat barrel path as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph during BP. During the games, he reached base 2 times with a single and base on balls while showing a good 2 strike approach. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch and works fast. He is a 2-pitch pitcher who tries to work at the bottom of the zone. He showed a clean arm action and good lower half rotation towards his target. Works off of a FB that sat 78-80mph with some sink and an 11/5 shaped slider. In 1 inning of work, he induced soft contact and threw 56% of his pitches for strikes. Overall, Ryland is a solid 2-way prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.
