Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ryson is a thin and projectable 2022 2-way prospect that is willing to learn and made several adjustments throughout the week at pirate city. At 2B, Ryson is on time with his prep step, he presents a low early glove, and works from the ground up. He has a quick first step to the ball and has range on both sides of the ball. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Ryson starts in an athletic stance, creates back side rotation, and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. Hes selective at the plate, grinds out ABs and drive the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to be aggressive in fastball counts and create separation in his load. On the bump, Ryson gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has good tempo in his delivery. He cuts his fastball and throws his curveball for strikes. He needs to continue to improve the change up and not slow his arm down when throwing it. Ryson will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/20/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kapolei, HI Ryson is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Ryson works low, he fields athletically, and his footwork is solid. He funnels well, has a clean exchange, and throws with a short/loose arm action with consistency to his target. On the mound Ryson stands over the rubber well, he has a clean arm circle, and rotates through completely to his target. Offensively, Ryson has a square set-up, a proper load, and quick hands. He has good balance, a short/direct barrel to the ball, and he uses his lower body. Ryson is a solid young player and can improve with work on the following.

1. Footwork
2. Fielding position
Pitching
1. Finish
2. Smooth out delivery
3. Long toss
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
