10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Sage continues to show the makings of a special type player at the next level. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. He moves well laterally, showing plus range on the corner. At the plate, he shows an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-80 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Sage continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.25 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now showing outstanding potential. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to all gaps. The baseball explodes off the bat (94 exit velocity) when centered. At 1B, he has plus lateral range for a big guy, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. FB shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well and throws strikes with all his pitches. Sage has the tools that will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Sage profiles as a high average first baseman with good defense at the bag. He fields with soft, presented hands and can pick it out of the dirt. His arm is plus for the position and adds another element to his game. He attacks at the dish with an aggressive swing and level path through contact. His rhythm and impressive bat speed generate pop, especially to the pull side. On the bump, he shows three pitches with above average secondary offerings - a sharp 11-5 curve and a hard sinking change - from a smooth arm stroke. The bat is the highlight and he will hit his way to the next level.

06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Sage continues to shine with a bright future on the diamond. At the plate, this 1B shows an athletic setup. His hands are quick (92 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through a direct, level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball. He utilizes all fields and displays gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. His glove action is soft and sure as he consistently shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding process. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. His FB shows in the high 70mph range with solid arm side run. His breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. With 2 years to further develop, Sage will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball tools.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Sage is a hardworking, coachable player who shows the making of a special type player at the next level. At the plate, is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level path, creating extension. He shows strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. At 1B, defensive grade are outstanding, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He presents a solid target and displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life and on line carry on his throws. A 2018 graduate, Sage has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/28/2015 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Sage is a corner infielder with a promising future ahead. He showed very well during his time at the SoCal Classic. Defensively, he has active footwork and works well around the bag at 1B. He presents his glove and fields the ball out in front maintaining good body control to throw. Offensively, he hits with power to the pull side with impressive, powerful hip action. The ball jumps off of his barrel with pop to the gaps (exit velocity = 88 mph). Sage has a great work ethic and positive attitude. He is a great teammate who makes those around him better. Overall, Sage is a talented player with a bright very future ahead of him.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Sage is a very talented 2-way player as a 1B/RHP (6'2"/185). Offensively, this lefty can swing it. He steps into the box with a purpose and waits for his pitch. Swing is quick to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2, and drives the ball with power to all parts of the field. At 1B, Sage has active pre-pitch footwork and moves well into position behind the GB. He is quick laterally and can get to the GB to his right and left. He works well around the 1B and can adjust to inaccurate throws. On the mound, Pera has a 4-pitch arsenal (FB, CB, CH, SPL) coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He gets good glove-side lead with glove-tuck and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 72-76 mph as he can hit his spots. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape as he stays on top and works in-line toward the dish. More lower 1/2 drive will help to tap into added velocity. Sage is a well-rounded athlete who can make things happen on the diamond. He has a very bright future in the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
