Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

06/16/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Salvador continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, feet are active as he moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands/feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball sowed a range of 74-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Getting on a long toss program will help increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/19/2017 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Salvador is a long, lean 2019 two-way player who shows skills both as a pitcher and third baseman. He can really swing it with feel for the barrel and gap to gap ability that makes him a tough out. He is balanced in the box with fluid actions and quick hands through the zone. His bat path is level with good bat speed and a strong lower half that generates pop to make consistent, square contact. At third, he gets to an athletic ready position and reacts quickly to the ball off the bat. He fields with firm hands, funneling the ball in and has a clean exchange to make strong feeds and throws. Gaining momentum and following his throws will improve velocity and help him make close plays. On the bump, he is fluid in his delivery with repeatable mechanics to show consistent stuff and control. He features a fastball with tail in the upper 70's along with two breaking balls and a changeup that has good movement. Salvador is an intriguing prospect we definitely want to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
