07/26/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One North Sam worked out both in the OF and on the mound during his time at Team One North. Defensively, Sam has athletic actions, he reads the ball off the bat well, and he plays through properly. He has good direction, and throws with accuracy to his target. On the hill, Sam has a FB that touched 84 MPH, he shows a loose arm action, and he keeps his eyes on target. Offensively, Sam has a solid set-up, a still head, and a proper load. He has good barrel accuracy and lets the ball travel well. He will be one to watch during his senior year.

06/09/2013 - College PREP - Albany, NY Sam is an athletic, 2-way player who will graduate in 2014. Defensively, Sam has sure hands, active footwork, and he works behind the ball well. He fields athletically, plays through the ball, and he throws with life to his target. On the mound, Sam has a long arm action, a controlled balance point, and level shoulders. He has good direction toward home, finishes completely, and is in the zone with his pitches. Staying tall and working on his CH will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Sam has a square set-up, a level swing, and he can work the ball gap to gap. He uses his lower 1/2, and can improve by letting the ball travel and with better timing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
