01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Sam is a 5 ft 10/180 OF/RHP in the 2026 class. Sam recently impressed scouts at the BF Preseason event at IMG Academy. In the field, he demonstrates the trust factor to make the routine play look routine. He catches the ball at the highest point and gains a high 3 qtr. slot. On the mound, scouts like his projectability. He has good mound presence and works with tempo. He is around the zone and is a ground ball machine with his sinking action. Operates from a 3 qtr. slot on his two pitch mix. His Fb has arm side sink at 80-2. His CB shaped 11-5 and ranged 72-3. At the plate, he displays solid balance from a crouched stance. His timing is smooth and he can spray the ball to all fields at 80 exit velo. Overall, Sam has excellent starting points for a 2026 grad and scouts think he has a bright future.

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament Sam continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-State event. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he utilizes his aggressive feet as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph with arm side run. Slider displays 10/4 shape with short break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Sam is a talented OF/RHP who plays above grade. This 2026 grad impressed scouts with his actions on the diamond recently. In the field, his feet work well and positions himself behind the baseball. His exchanges are clean and uses a high ¾ release. His feeds back to the dirt have carry and accuracy. Working to get behind the baseball and play lower to the ground on his ground ball play, will allow him to work through the baseball more. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance and has a short on-time stride. Gains a proper launch position and has a quiet head. His barrel is in the zone and he engages his lower half well. Shows line drive production to the pull side. On the mound, he uses a 3-pitch mix from an over-the-top slot. His FB sat 71-4 and his CB sat 65-67. His CH was 65-6 with FB arm speed. Working to increase his location will be a key point for him as he continues to grow on the mound. Overall, Sam is a young player with a bright future.

10/12/2022 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2026) Sam is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Fall Classic. In the field, Sam creates good angles and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and remains centered in his lower half. He works through a compact swing and produces strong line drives. On the mound, Sam gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes on target. He finishes with a controlled landing and rotates square to the plate. Sam operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits at 68mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Sam is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Sam is a hard working OF/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Virginia. Defensively, he displayed efficient footwork by presenting the glove and working through the baseball to set up his arm to make strong accurate throws to his target. Offensively, he used an athletic stance with a controlled stride and rhythm to work on plane with the baseball. His quick hands and barrel control allowed him to make consistent hard contact with gap to gap power. On the mound, he showed good mechanics by gathering over the rubber and separating on time to with proper stride length. He threw strikes with a two pitch mix of a fastball that topped out at 70 mph and a breaking ball with 11/5 action that ranged from 54-56 mph. Same could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, speed training, arm path, strength training and work behind fly ball drills.

10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Sam continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches as he continues to develop. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/05/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Richmond, VA Sam is an athletic RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. On the mound, Sam gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing square to his target. Sam operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Cutter sits from 62-63mph. Changeup sits from 61-62mph with sinking action. Driving his lower half more can help Sam increase his pitch velocity. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap. Sam can generate more pop off the barrel by loading his hands more. With five more years to develop, Sam has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
