08/27/2017 - College PREP - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI
Sam is a thin and athletic OF prospect. In the OF, Sam has active pre pitch movement and makes good reads on fly balls. He gets into a square position and presents his hands out in front to field ground balls. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to be consistently on-line to his target. Working behind the ball and creating fluidity in his crow hop will increase his ability to keep runners from advancing extra bases. At the plate, Sam sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He creates separation in his hands and stays balanced throughout his swing. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact, driving balls to the gaps. Using the lower half he will create more consistent power in his swing. Sam is a hard working player and will be a difference maker at the next level.

Sam is a lean, athletic OF/LHP who will graduate in 2018 and he has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid, displaying smooth clean actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Defensive abilities will increase as he improves foot quickness and works to get behind balls to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At the event, he was 7 for 13 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength.
