12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Sam is a hardworking, coachable SS with a solid frame and plus tools across the board. In the MIF, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He makes the routine plays and shows sound fundamentals but will benefit by presenting glove more out front. At the plate, he tracks balls well and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power potential shows best to the pull side, and he will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. He shows a solid eye with good strike zone awareness as he drew 4 BB at the event. Sam has a lot of potential and is a player to keep an eye on.

10/25/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN This strong RHH SS continues to work on his game. Offensively, he steps into the batters box with a purpose looking for a pitch he can crush. Barrel delivery is quick with whip to and through the zone as he works to engage his strong lower 1/2 throughout the swing. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered as he uses the entire field. At SS, Sam has active prep footwork with athletic actions moving well around the GB from right to left. Hands are soft/sure with a clean exchange to throw. At 6'0"/175 - Peterson has the tools that will provide success on the diamond.

06/11/2015 - College PREP - Fargo, ND Sam has really improved his baseball abilities since the last time we have seen him with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the bat to utilize all fields. Defensive grade at SS have really improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through the baseball and showing soft / clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents balls more out front and continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more strength and work to get rid of the baseball quicker to improve arm grade. Sam the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/09/2014 - National Tryout - Minneapolis, MN Sam improved his power numbers at the plate, now showing solid abilities. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He needs to attack balls more and play through while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Sam is a freshman SS that showed well at the dish, in his latest Baseball Factory outing. Offensively, he hits from a slightly open stance and is direct with the barrel. He generates fast bat speed and stays through contact. Defensively, he flashed fluidity with his feet and soft hands. Adding arm strength is essential for his further SS play. In all - Sam showed to be a contact hitter with poise and an athlete that can make plays.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
