06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Sam is a tall/athletic 2-way player who is a very hard worker and showed well during his time at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, this RHP has a 3 pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, keeps his eyes on the target and gets good glove-side lead. He maintains fluid rhythm/tempo and repeats well. FB tops out at 73 mph as he works it in and out. He has good composure and doesn't let the situation affect him. Working to get more extension on his follow through (towel drill) will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. At 3B, he has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. Hands are soft as he gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this righty has a square/balanced setup with patience. He takes a hack and looks to drive the middle of the field. Swinging on a more direct/level path will result in increased pop off of the barrel. A 2018 grad - Sam is a very coachable player who has a willingness to learn and work hard to get to where he wants to be.
