07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Paul continues to show his skills & versatility on the diamond. Speed is his standout tool as he can cover a ton of ground in the OF. He has a smooth exchange and gains ground toward his target. At the plate, Samarick remains balanced with rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he is direct to and through the zone. Ball comes off of his barrel well, resulting in hard line-drives. On the bump, this RHP attacks the zone throwing strikes consistently. He keeps the ball down in the zone which will result in a lot of GB outs. Only a 2017 grad - Samarick has a ton of upside and will be one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

05/17/2015 - National Tryout - New Orleans, LA Samarick continues to be an exciting young player with strong measurables - running his best sixty to date at a 6.46s. In the OF, he worked to and through the baseball with a soft glove out in front. He was smooth with his actions, covering ground with ease and throwing with carry. Offensively, he was balanced in his setup, on-time with his launch, and direct with his barrel to hit. He was coordinated with his hands and hips to generate bat speed / pop, and got extended out in front. On the hill, he threw his sinking FB from 81-84, spun an 11/5 CB from 60-69, and threw a sinking CH from 78-79. He is a superb athlete on the bump that has smooth rhythm and repeatability. He could become quicker between pitches - boosting his tempo for greater efficiency and effectiveness. In all - Samarick is a young player that has a bright future in this game with present tools that make him an excellent prospect.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Samarick is a very athletic and speedy outfielder as evidenced by his 6.84 60 yd dash. He shows an accurate arm with good carry. His speed allows him to cover the gaps in the outfield efficiently. Has some arm strength but it will improve as he learns to finish and play through his throws. Offensively, he has a quiet and balanced approach, possesses quick hands and uses his lower half efficiently. As he continues to grow and get stronger he will become an even bigger threat at the plate. On the mound, he shows a repeatable delivery, locates fastballs on both sides of the plate and finishes in a good athletic position. A consistent long toss program and development of breaking pitches will make him that much more effective.

09/28/2014 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Samarick is a versatile athlete both who has some great tools. On the bump, he has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and free/easy arm action. He gets good glove-side lead, maintains level shoulders, and works in-line toward the plate. FB tops out at 78 mph as it has slight cut. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp action showing to be a good out pitch. Finishing with extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all 3 pitches. In the OF, he has quick actions with lightning quick speed (6.75 60 yard dash). He has a clean exchange with a quick arm, firing accurate throws into his target. Offensively, Paul shows a square/balanced approach with good rhythm. He swings on a short/level path, connecting and hitting line-drives. He will be a top of the line-up type of guy with his ability to square the ball up and speed down the line. Only a 2017 grad - Samarick has a high ceiling and will be one to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
