09/08/2019 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Samin is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that continue to improve his game. In the OF, Samin is on time with his prep step, he reads the ball off the bat and creates the appropriate angle to the ball. His first step is good and he put himself in an athletic fielding position. At the plate, Samin has a long stride and gets his hands back into the drive position. He hits off a firm front side, he has fast hands, and hits the ball to all fields. On the bump, Samin gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a clean arm stroke. He attacks the bottom of the zone with his fastball, his change up has some good downward run, and his curveball has a medium break. Samin will improve with experience and we hope to see him continue to develop his game for the next level.

06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Samin is and athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect. In the OF, Samin plays through ground balls, he has a clean exchange, and gets rid of the ball quick with runners on base. Continuing to be on time with his prep step will help him to improve his first step quickness to the ball and get better reactions off the bat. He makes the routine play and is always looking to back up the bases. At the plate, Samin starts in an athletic stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position and looks to do damage on fastballs early in the count. He keeps his head down at contact and consistently barrels the baseball. He does have a tendency to create length in his swing and work up hill. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and create backside drive with the lower half will help him to level out his swing. On the bump Samin gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He throws his fastball down in the zone but has a tendency to leave his breaking ball up in the zone. Continuing to build arm strength will improve his velocity. Samin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/17/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - San Francisco, CA Samin is a tall RHP/OF prospect who will gradaute in 2020. On the mound, Samin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Samin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 61-65mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 59-62mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help Samin improve as a pitcher. In the field, Samin shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. Samin can improve defensively by working through the ball more on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets into his load well. He leads with his lower half and produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to loud contact and line drives to all fields. Taking a shorter stride can help Samin improve as a hitter. Overall, Samin is a solid prospect who should find success in this, his junior season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
