07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Sam is a tall, solid, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the hill, Sam has a good frame, he stands over the rubber well, and his arm is loose. He locates the ball well, his stride is square, and finishes in a good position. Mound effectiveness can get better if Sam can get more arm extension, use more lower body, and add arm strength. In the OF, Sam has good actions, efficient footwork, and soft hands. He makes all plays, gains momentum toward his target, and delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. Better angles to the ball and adding arm strength will improve defensive skills. Offensively, Sam is a patient hitter with a square stride and good balance. He can switch hit, keeps a still head, and he makes consistent contact. Hitting number from both sides can improve if Sam can shorten and quicken his swing, work on his timing, and liven his hands.
