06/08/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Samuel is a strong, athletic OF who has a tremendous future on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way (6.72 60 time). He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Samuel continues to show a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he continues to shine. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (90 mph velocity) on his throws. Samuel has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

06/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Katy (Houston), TX Samuel is a talented 1B prospect who has an athletic build and well-rounded skill set on both sides of the ball. As a left-handed hitter, Samuel has a tall, open stance with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short stride. Samuel shows fast bat speed with a short swing path producing hard contact. He has a line drive approach and the power to drive the ball each gap. In the field, Samuel plays with active footwork and takes effective angles to cover good ground in each direction laterally. He gets around the baseball to field it in a low, athletic position. He receives the ball with soft hands and a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball and his throws are online with good strength across the diamond. Overall, Samuel has talent offensively and defensively with upside to be an impact player at the next level.

05/07/2017 - College PREP - College Station, TX Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he improved hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays athletic actions. Feet are aggressive and displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft but will benefit by presenting earlier and more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

05/22/2016 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Samuel continues to work hard to progress. Defensively at 1B, he shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He moves well around the bag, adjusting to inaccurate throws with the ability tot pick it. As a hitter - this lefty shows a square setup with good balance. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it. Engaging more of his lower 1/2 throughout the swing will result in increased power. Only a 2020 grad - Benjamin has the work ethic that will only continue to help him develop.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Sam showed smooth actions defensively with proper footwork. His body gets low to field but he tends to field the ball deep. Focusing on presenting his glove further out in front will improve grades. Offensively, Sam displayed an activated load with a direct path to the ball. He does a nice job rotating his core through the baseball. Benjamin flashed pull side power but will need to focus on letting the ball travel to use the opposite field. Sam is a young player that continues to show improvement as he gets older.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Samuel once again showed strengths on both sides of the baseball at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City. Offensively, he had good athleticism throughout his swing with present pop. He generated good bat speed, but still needs to get into his lower half more for increase hard contact. Defensively, he had efficient footwork to make plays and showed exceptional body control to get his hands in front on-time. He was sure with the glove and worked to add even more feel to backhand plays. In all - Samuel has present ability with his current tools that will play, but needs to continue adding strength especially in the core, and arm.

04/06/2015 - College PREP - Dubai, UAE Samuel is a very intriguing young player with a lot of upside and well above average hit ability. Offensively, he was aggressive to deliver the barrel through the zone, repeating his swings with fluidity and strength. He sprayed the ball to all fields - utilizing contact points - and showed pop potential as he continues to grow. His overall feel for the barrel was excellent, and he generated good bat speed with hand and hip coordination, leveraging off of his stiff front-side. Defensively, he worked to prep his feet pre-pitch at 1B, to give way to a quick jump to make plays. He got his glove in front at times, and flashed sure hands. All in all - Samuel has present tools that will continue to progress as he strengthens over time, and has a quiet/hardworking demeanor that will help get him there.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
