Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Samuel is a young (2021 grad), athletic 2-way player (3B/RHP) who competes day in and day out. He has made several improvements and great strides in his game. Offensively, this righty steps into the box and is looking to swing it. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone as he connects and hits line drives (collecting 2 singles at the event). At 3B, he works hard to get into a square fielding position behind the GB and tracks the ball into his mitt. He gathers well and has accurate throws to 1B. More aggressiveness to come and get the ball while playing on the balls of his feet will help to improve skills at 3B. On the mound, Samuel keeps his eyes on the target, has smooth separation and gets good glove-side lead working in-line towards the dish. FB now ranges from 66-68 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape, 56-59 mph. He does a nice job mixing his pitches helping to keep hitters guessing. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get even more into his FB. Bofill has upside with still a lot of time to progress.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-61 mph with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Samuel is a young 2021 OF/RHP prospect from South Florida with a big frame and a strong arm. As an OF, Samuel works behind the ball, gets into a good throwing position, and makes strong accurate throws to the infield. Working on his agility/speed drills will increase his overall quickness in the OF, and help him get quality jumps on the ball. As a hitter, Samuel has a quiet stance, loads his hands into the drive position and makes hard contact to all fields. Rhythm and timing drills will increase his ability to use his lower half while attacking the inside part of the ball. On the mound, Samuel was consistent on the mound and threw 67% strikes in his outing. He needs to stay directional towards the plate, create fluid arm action, and get extension on his finish. Overall, Samuel is a young prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

11/13/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Davie, FL Samuel is an OF/RHP who hustles on every play. In the OF, he works hard to get around the baseball and come up firing to his target. His long legs allow him to track down hard-hit fly balls in the gap. On the mound, this righty delivers from a Hi 3/4 arm slot. He gets to a solid balance point as he pounds the zone with strikes. With the bat, Samuel displays a square setup in the box. He drives the ball with hard pull side pop as he explodes his lower 1/2 through the zone. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Soft hands
2. Quick exchange to throw
3. Play through
Pitching
1. Lower 1/2 drive
2. Loose actions
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Bat speed
3. Level swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
