ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

09/14/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Sam improved hitting grades and raised his velocity off the mound during his last workout in Milwaukee. At the plate, Sam has good balance, an open stance, and good bat speed. He swings in good rhythm and barrel the ball up well on the sweet spot. On the mound, Sam stands over the rubber well, he separates on time, and he lands in a square position. He uses his lower body and finishes in an athletic position. At 3B, Sam fields aggressively, he has good body control, and throws with accuracy to his target. Abilities can continue to improve if Sam can work on the following.

Pitching
1. Keep front side closed
2. Avoid falling off
3. Long toss
Infield
1. Widen base
2. Field out front
3. Play more through ball
Offense
1. More lower 1/2
2. Load
3. Shorter more direct hands to ball

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Samuel showed good improvement at Pirate City, especially as a fielder. He showed a good pre-pitch, consistent/accurate arm, he squares up the ball and makes plays in the field. He needs to be more aggressive, work on footwork (speed/lateral movement/agility) and long toss for arm strength. On the mound Samuel was in-line to the target, had good extension, a complete/balanced finish and he threw strikes. He needs to control the balance point, separation is late and a smoother overall approach. At the plate Samuel improved his balance and made good contact but he needs to develop a load and loosen up his actions.

03/09/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Kenosha, WI Samuel is a tall, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Samuel has playable hands and feet and he presents his glove well. He makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Samuel has an easy arm action, a controlled balance point, and good glove side lead. He has level shoulders and finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Samuel has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has a level swing, makes square contact, and he swings in good rhythm. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play lower
2. Quicken feet
3. Soften hands
Pitching
1. Keep head still
2. Long toss
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Separation
3. More lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
