Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/10/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Rapid City, SD Samuel is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. On the Bump, Samuel gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He has deceptive delivery and gets good movement on the ball. His Fastball has late run and his Curveball has an early break. At the hot corner, Samuel he presents a low/early glove and makes the routine plat. He has a good prep step which allows him to create angles to the ball. At the plate, Samuel starts in an open stance and stays balanced through contact. He has a middle approach and looks to make contact to the right side of the field. Samuel will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
