12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player at the next level. He did show at 1B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has really improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.89. At the plate, power potential is now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach, creating extension. He has strength and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At 1B, he is a big target, displaying proper footwork, and is a quality receiver. He moves well laterally, displaying plus range with a solid back hand. Actions are smooth / fluid and he presents soft hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on throws. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a big upside, is very coachable and is a very hard worker.
