02/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Samuel is a young, athletic, 2-way player, who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Samuel has good pre-pitch actions, active footwork, and a presentable glove. He fields athletically, in a low position, makes plays consistently, and throws with momentum and accuracy from a short arm action to his target. If Samuel can work to field ground balls further out in front of his body, and continue to add arm strength, solid defensive skills will get even better. On the mound, Samuel has a repeatable delivery, he works in good rhythm, and he separates his hands on time. He has a fastball that touches 74 mph. He mixes in his off-speed well, and he rotates through towards his target. Abilities on the mound can improve if Samuel can improve balance, loosen his arm action, and finish in a more complete position. At the plate, Samuel is a strong hitter with an athletic set up. He has good balance, loads his hands back well, and has fast bat speed. Samuel makes short/hard contact to the ball, and a solid pop his bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
