11/02/2023 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at JRTC Samuel is a young and upcoming C/ SS in the 2027 class. Scouts loved all his intangibles regarding his work ethic and energy on the field. Defensively, he shows solid athletic actions behind the plate while maintain body control. He sits low and has quiet eyes with pocket feel. He replaces his feet well and gains a high 3 qtr slot to make feeds around the bag. On the dirt, he shows quick feet and squares his body to the baseball. Actions are clean and stays connected to his glove. Backhand play is excellent and working to quicken his exchange will allow him to accelerate his release. At the plate, he shows the ability to generate consistent contact with a strong barrel feel. Stays balanced and maintains body control. Had a great weekend offensively, with reaching base 7 out of 8 plate appearances (3 hits, 3 BB’s & 1 HBP). Overall, Samuel has a bright future on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
