06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Samuel worked out both on the mound and in the OF during his time in Omaha, and he showed us some improvements since his first workout with us earlier this year. On the hill, Samuel is aggressive in the zone, he repeats his delivery, and he works in good rhythm / tempo. He has good direction toward home, good body control, and he pitches to contact. He is a tough competitor and has a good pitcher's make up as he is under control in all situations. Mound effectiveness can improve with a looser arm action, softer front leg, and improved off speed pitches. In the OF, Samuel has a decent first step, some lateral movements, and he catches the ball at its highest point. He makes plays and has accuracy to his target. More crow hop and arm strength will help OF abilities improve. At the plate, Samuel has a nice finish to his swing and is an aggressive hitter with loose hands and good barrel accuracy. Letting the ball travel in the strike zone and using more of his lower 1/2 can help spike offensive numbers. He is a young and driven player who has the chance to be very good as he develops.
