12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Samuel is solid young OF that will graduate in 2021. In the OF, Samuel shows a good feel for positioning and makes good pre-pitch movement. He fields the ball out in front of his body and makes quick and clean exchanges. As he works to get rid of the ball, he makes clean throws to the infield. Working on foot speed and arm strength will allow Samuel to become a better OF. At the plate, Samuel sets up in a slight crouch with an open stance and low hands. He gets into his load and takes a square stride keeping his movements under control showing the ability to make consistent contact. He rotates his core well hitting the ball to all fields. Samuel shows the ability to play at the next level and we look forward to seeing his progress.

10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Parker (Denver), CO Samuel is an athletic OF that will graduate in 2021. In the OF, Samuel shows effective footwork to the ball showing the ability to cover both gaps. He works behind the ball well in the air and works low to the ball on the ground. His exchanges are clean as he gets rid of the ball with a short arm action. He makes consistent throws to the infield with momentum. At the plate, Samuel sets up in a square and athletic stance as he gets a square stride to the ball. His rhythm is smooth as he keeps his balance centered rotating against a firm front side. He keeps his swing path short to the ball making consistent contact to all fields. Overall, Samuel shows a solid base with several years to grow and develop.

05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lakewood (Denver), CO Samuel is an athletic OF prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Samuel fields out in front of his body with soft hands and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Samuel improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He gets good extension through the ball with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Samuel can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing path to the ball. With two more years to develop, Samuel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
