03/19/2023 - National Showcase - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Samuel continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are excellent with near pro level power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as excellent tools that will play well. Pop times showed in the 2.06 range with accuracy / carry (89 mph velocity) on his throws.

03/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Greenville, SC Samuel continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as excellent tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 2.02 range with accuracy / carry (86 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Samuel has a big upside and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Samuel is a strong C prospect who showed well during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the plate, Samuel shows efficient footwork and blocks well to his backhand side. He sits in a low stance and receives with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and stays inside the ball well, spraying the ball to all fields. Overall, Samuel is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

08/09/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Samuel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20 and will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At 3B, feet active as he works to square balls up. Hands are clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

09/29/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Greensboro, NC Samuel showed solid all around improvements during his last workout with The Factory. He raised arm velocity to 68 MPH, exit velocity to 72 MPH, hitting numbers spiked as well as defensive numbers. Behind the plate, Samuel has a solid set-up, he tracks well and sticks cleanly. He holds a low target, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick release with accuracy to 2nd base. At 3rd, Samuel has athletic actions, active feet, and he fields low and athletically. He has soft hands and a consistent arm with carry across the diamond. At the plate, Samuel has a rhythmic swing, an athletic set-up, and he loads well. He has a level/consistent swing path and he uses his lower body.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Samuel is a coachable C/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown. Behind the plate, Samuel sits in an athletic primary stance and receives with a relaxed glove. He gets into an athletic secondary stance and shows proper footwork to throw, keeping his throws accurate to the 2B bag. He is smooth moving to block and centers the ball in the middle of his body. Making a quicker exchange can help Samuel improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Samuel can improve as a hitter by using the entire field. With six more years to develop, Samuel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - North Charleston, SC Samuel is an athletic, 2-way player with broad shoulders. Behind the plate, Samuel has fluid/active feet, agile movements, and his hands are firm. He centers the ball well, deaden softly when blocking, and throws with carry from a quick release to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.56 seconds. In the OF, Samuel has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he works behind the ball well; throwing with carry and accuracy to his cut off man. Offensively, Samuel has a square/athletic set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, he can spray to all fields, and he uses some lower body. Samuel can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
