01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Samuel is a coachable C/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown. Behind the plate, Samuel sits in an athletic primary stance and receives with a relaxed glove. He gets into an athletic secondary stance and shows proper footwork to throw, keeping his throws accurate to the 2B bag. He is smooth moving to block and centers the ball in the middle of his body. Making a quicker exchange can help Samuel improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Samuel can improve as a hitter by using the entire field. With six more years to develop, Samuel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - North Charleston, SC Samuel is an athletic, 2-way player with broad shoulders. Behind the plate, Samuel has fluid/active feet, agile movements, and his hands are firm. He centers the ball well, deaden softly when blocking, and throws with carry from a quick release to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.56 seconds. In the OF, Samuel has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he works behind the ball well; throwing with carry and accuracy to his cut off man. Offensively, Samuel has a square/athletic set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, he can spray to all fields, and he uses some lower body. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
