06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Samuel showed on the mound at the event but continues to show a promising future on the diamond. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed range of 87-91 mph with cutting action and on a downhill plane. Slider displays 10/4 shape with late, short break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and works to get ahead, utilizing both sides of the plate.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Wibbels is a two way RHP/SS that will graduate in 2019. On the mound, this righty showed tremendous potential to go along with present ability. A fastball that ran up to 87 MPH with sink and an above average slider and developing change-up with some deception make Samuel a pitcher to keep an eye on. Wibbels proved to be a strike thrower with the fastball and slider that showed 10-4 shape. Utilizing the lower half and hips more in the delivery will unlock even more velocity and action on pitches for Samuel on the mound. Defensively at SS, Wibbels showed a quick exchange from catch to throw and showed accuracy to go along with a strong arm. Developing more fluidity with the footwork will increase body control and allow the hands to soften and play through the baseball more. At the plate, Samuel steps to the plate with an aggressive, attacking mindset and flashed some pop when the timing syncs up correctly. Developing a softer front foot in the stride load complex and utilizing a timing mechanism to keep the swing connected will increase consistency of solid contact. A hard-worker, Wibbels's stock will continue to rise, especially on the mound with the present arm strength.

09/30/2015 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Wibbels showed as a RHP/3B at his time in Arizona. On the bump, he throws everything out of the windup, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose/free to the plate. Fastball showed in the upper 70 range with good arm side run and had quality off speed stuff that will get outs at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well with plus deception. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.20. At 3B, he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more while presenting hands more out front. At the plate, he shows a closed setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power grades will increase as he works to stay back and utilizes his lower half more aggressively. Mental makeup continues to show as a plus tool as he is a great teammate and is a student of the game.

09/06/2015 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Samuel is a tall, strong RHP/SS that will graduate in 2019 with a promising future on the diamond. On the bump, fastball showed a range of 72-77 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late/sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Stock on the mound will continue to grow as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. At SS, feet are active as he works to squares balls up, displaying clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he plays through balls while presenting hands more out front and increases foot quickness. At the plate he shows a open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power grades will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 4 years to further develop, Samuel will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
