12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Samuel is a 2028 C/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. He has a big frame with a firm glove. He presents a good target with pocket awareness and has a loud mitt. He tracks pitches well with a clean transfer. He creates momentum on his throws to second base and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 79mph and a best pop time of 2.27 seconds. On the mound he has a sure demeanor with a good feel for pitching. He has long levers and a projectable frame. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 74mph with plus command, an 11/5 breaking ball with good tilt, and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. In 2 innings of work, he punched out 2 batters and threw 62% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate he hits from a tall and open stance with loose hands. A lower half driven swing as he hits into a firm front side and gets his rear hip through. Shows a fast barrel in hitting zone and ball jumps off of his bat. In live game action, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 6 times with 2 doubles, 3 walks, and was hit by a pitch. Samuel is a good listener and a natural leader on the field. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Manalapan, NJ Samuel is a 2028 C/RHP from Delran, NJ. Behind the dish, he does a good job of tracking the ball with his eyes. He shows off some good lateral movements and recorded a low pop time of 2.40 seconds. He works hard to receive the ball with soft hands and stay in a low fielding position. At the plate, he starts in a squared stance and has a comfortable base. His load is controlled and he does a good job of keeping his balance centered throughout. He works hard to get his lower half more involved but is young and has a lot of room for growth. On the mound, Samuel throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and features a 3-pitch mix. He does a good job of gathering his balance over the rubber and getting to a good balance point. He keeps his eyes on target and stays online towards his target. He has a nice controlled landing and does a good job of getting a proper stride length consistently. His CB features gradual 11-5 break and he maintains FB arm speed when throwing his CH. He works hard to finish his delivery with his chest over his front knee. Excited to see more of Samuel as he continues to grow and develop!

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
